Plants with vines can send out branches, coils, or tendrils to grab hold of nearby supports. The tender tip of the vine becomes hardened and tough once it is anchored, and the leaves and stems of the vine are filled in after support is established. Using this vining mechanism, many plants are able to “travel” or extend their reach.
