There are 4 species of coatis spread across two Genera. Two of them are in the Nasua genus and the other two are in the Nasuella genus. They are: Nasua narica, N. nasua, Nasuella olivacea, and Nasuella meridensis. The latter lives only in northern Venezuela and is classified as endangered.
