There Are 2 Types of Waterspouts.

There are 2 types of waterspouts, which are tornadoes that form over water. Tornadic waterspouts have the same characteristics as land tornadoes and most often form during severe thunderstorms. Fair weather waterspouts develop on the surface of the water and work their way upwards. They are not generally associated with thunderstorms and form in light wind conditions, so they usually don’t move very much.
