The Oort Cloud is theorized to be a giant spherical shell that surrounds the Sun, planets, and objects in the Kuiper Belt. It’s thought to be made up of icy, comet-like objects that are often massive. It has never been observed but is considered the most distant region of our solar system, lying far beyond Pluto and the most distant edges of the Kuiper Belt. Its outer edge is thought to be located between 10,000 and 100,000 AU (astronomical units) from the Sun. Notably, the Oort Cloud is also thought to be the home of long-period comets.
