The Mesosphere is the layer of Earth’s atmosphere located between 31 and 50 miles above the planet’s surface. The temperature in the mesosphere gets progressively colder with altitude. In fact, the coldest place found within Earth's system is the top layer of the Mesosphere, which has an average temperature of -120 F.
