Temperatures Decrease with Height in the Troposphere.

The Troposphere is the lowest layer of Earth’s atmosphere, extending from the planet’s surface up to roughly 7.5 miles high (it is slightly lower at Earth’s poles and slightly higher around the equator). In this atmospheric layer, temperatures decrease as height increases. This is because most of the heat in the Troposphere is generated by the transfer of energy from Earth’s surface.
