Succulents Have Shallow Roots to Survive.

In order to survive in inhospitable areas with lots of heat and little rain, many succulents have shallow root systems that spread out like a net around the plant. Notably, the roots are located just below the surface of the soil. This allows the plants to make the most of even minuscule amounts of precipitation.
