What we think of as the “seeds” on the outside of a strawberry are actually the plant’s fruits. Each one contains a single seed. The fleshy red part of the strawberry that we often think of as the "fruit" is actually swollen receptacle tissue, or the part of the plant that once connected the flower to the vine stem.
