Rossby Waves Are Caused by the Earth’s Rotations.

Rossby waves occur naturally due to the rotation of our planet. Slow-moving Rossby waves occur both atmospherically and in the ocean. Oceanic Rossby waves differ greatly from surface waves and are essentially huge, undulating movements of the ocean. They stretch across the planet horizontally for hundreds of kilometers and are significant enough to affect climate conditions!
