Ringtails are omnivorous, however, they show a preference for meat. They typically eat mice, rats, squirrels, and cottontails, and they do not discriminate against carrion. They also consume snakes, lizards, insects (mostly grasshoppers and crickets), spiders, scorpions, and the fruits of some native plants.
