Red-Billed Hornbills Forage with Mongooses.

Red-Billed Hornbills forage alongside mongooses. It is a symbiotic arrangement for both species. The mongooses unearth more insects for the Red-Billed Hornbills to eat. Both groups can disperse more widely with so many extra eyes on the lookout for predators, and the mongooses don’t have to post as many guards. In return, the Red-Billed Hornbills give warning calls, including when they spot animals that are predators of the mongooses but not a threat to their own species.
