Raleigh Scattering Makes the Sky Blue.

The sky appears blue due to a phenomenon called Raleigh scattering. Sunlight is scattered by the particles of the atmosphere and what comes through are the shorter wavelengths, which correspond to blue and green. At sunset and sunrise, the angle that sunlight enters the atmosphere changes, and we see more of the orange and red colors in the sky instead.
