When they’re not hunting, polar bears spend their time resting, sometimes for periods of up to 20 hours a day. They make nest-like beds in seaweed piled on the coast or dig caves in the snow. They may also rest in a shallow snow bed and let the blowing snow cover them up to create a temporary “day den.”
