Pileated Woodpeckers Are North America’s Largest Type.

Pileated Woodpeckers (Dryocopus pileatus) are the largest surviving woodpeckers living in North America today. They measure 16 to 19 inches long with a wingspan of just over 2 feet wide. Most weigh between 8.8 and 12.3 ounces.
