Meteoroids are very small asteroids. They generally measure just a few microns to 1 meter in size. Meteoroids that burn up in Earth’s atmosphere are known as meteors, which produce a visible trail in the night sky. Meteoroids that survive Earth’s atmosphere long enough to collide with Earth’s surface are called meteorites.
