Greenland Sharks Are Extremely Long-Lived.

By carbon-dating proteins found in their eyes, scientists have been able to estimate that Greenland sharks live for hundreds of years. They estimated that the largest shark they found was between 272 and 512 years old. If the 272-year lifespan is correct (let alone 512!), it would make Greenland sharks the longest-lived vertebrates in the world.
