Giant Pandas have distinctive black and white fur. Scientists have recently discovered that their dual-colored fur serves an important purpose — camouflage! The black patches on a Giant Panda’s fur blend in well with dark shadows and tree trunks, while the white patches blend in with both foliage and snow. The two-tone effect also makes it difficult for predators to visualize what they’re seeing, further helping these large creatures hide from predators.
