Fishtail Palms Are Bipinnate.

While many palms are pinnate, Fishtail Palms are bipinnate, meaning that blades grow along both sides of each frond’s rib and that those blades are further divided into leaflets. Bipinnate fonds give these trees their distinctive appearance that vaguely resembles a fish’s tail, hence their name.
