Eastern Box Turtles Can Almost Completely Close Their Shells.

Eastern Box Turtles have a dark brown, hinged plastron (underside of shell). This allows them to almost completely close their shells when under threat. Their shells are also unique in that they can (amazingly!) regenerate.
