Cycads Are Surprisingly Ancient.

Cycads are a group of plants with long leaves that resemble ferns or palms. However, they are actually a distinct group belonging to the Order Cycadales. Cycads emerged in the late Paleozoic era and were quite widespread by the time the dinosaurs ruled the Earth. They provided food for many herbivorous dinosaurs and adapted to survive various climate changes. Today, however, they represent one of the most endangered plant groups in the world.
