Chinchillas Share Child-Rearing Duties.

Chinchillas are highly social creatures who live in family groups that can form vast colonies, or herds, of over 100 individuals. Unlike other rodents, male chinchillas will help raise their young if needed. And if a mother chinchilla is unable to nurse her babies (referred to as "kits"), another female may come feed them instead.
