Up to 70% of the Catalina Rattlesnake’s diet is made up of a species of mouse called Peromyscus slevini, which is native to the snake’s only habitat, Santa Catalina Island. In fact, these mice are the only ground mammals on the island. Notably, Catalina Rattlesnakes are classified as Critically Endangered due to climate change vulnerability.
