Blue Jay Eggs Aren’t Always Blue.

Blue Jays, while named for their brightly colored feathers, are also capable of laying pale blue eggs speckled with brown and gray dots. However, their eggs are actually more likely to be greenish or buff in color. Blue Jay parents share incubation duties over a period of 16 – 18 days, and once hatched, their young leave the nest within 17 – 21 days.
