Atmospheric Rossby Waves Help Create Balance.

Atmospheric Rossby waves are caused by the Earth’s rotations and their formation is influenced by Earth’s geography. Rossby waves help balance the atmosphere by moving heat from the tropics toward the poles and cold air from the poles toward the tropics. They also play a role in the jet stream and low pressure systems. Because they are slow-moving, atmospheric Rossby waves often result in fairly long-lasting, persistent weather patterns.
