Andean Bear cubs are born weighing just 10 – 18 ounces. They are also toothless, blind, and completely dependent on their mothers for care. Their eyes start to open around 4 – 6 weeks of age and they begin walking soon after, but do not generally leave the den until they are around 3 months old.
