Unlike Brown Pelicans, American White Pelicans don’t dive from the air to hunt. Instead, they forage by swimming on the surface of the water and dipping their bills down to scoop fish into their pouches. At times, they also forage cooperatively with other pelicans by working together to drive fish toward shallower waters.
